Puppies join Prince William County Police Department

Two bloodhounds will specialize in tracking missing people.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — The Prince William County Police Department announced two new additions to the force today in a post to X, formerly Twitter. Dory and Sadie are 12-week-old bloodhounds who will specialize in tracking missing endangered persons.

Bloodhounds frequently find work in law enforcement, as they are colloquially called “a nose with a dog attached.” Their scent-tracking skills are utilized in police departments around the globe for sniffing out explosives, drugs, and missing people.

Dory and Sadie’s training begins immediately and will take several months to complete, police said.

The Virginia Department of Transportation’s Northern Virginia account replied to the post asking, “Do they like visiting VDOT offices? Asking for a friend.”
