Manassas, Va (WUSA9) — A teen has died after she was struck by a train Wednesday afternoon in Manassas, Va., police said.
The victim has been identified as 13-year-old Reyhan Safoglu. She attended Lake Braddock Secondary School.
The 13-year-old was hit at Bull Run Bridge near Clifton, Va. around 3 p.m.
An investigation revealed that Safoglu was hiking with her family, her 13-year-old cousin her 21-year-old brother. The teens were walking on the bridge when a train approached. Police said the boy was able to get out of the way.
Police say they believe Safoglu was struck in Prince William County but ended up in Fairfax County. The accident happened on the line between Fairfax and Manassas Park.
Train 335 was canceled Wednesday night due to the accident, according to Virginia Railway Express. Train 335 was scheduled to depart Union Station at 6:10 p.m. For more information, click here.
