Construction worker in critical condition after 4 workers were shocked at Alexandria construction site

The police department told WUSA9 that they are treating the incident as a criminal investigation.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Four construction workers were hospitalized on Monday morning after being shocked at an Alexandria construction site, the Alexandria Police Department said.

Officers responded to a construction site in the 6300 block of Stevenson Avenue on Monday where they found three adults had been shocked at the site. The police department confirmed that they all worked at the site.

All three were taken to area hospitals, and two of them had life-threatening injuries. The fire department reported a fourth person was also hospitalized.

One of the workers is in critical condition.

According to the Alexandria Fire Department, the construction workers were working on the building when they raised a piece of equipment that made contact with a high-voltage line – shocking the four.

At this point, the police department told WUSA9 that they are treating the incident as a criminal investigation – which they said is standard operating procedure.

No other details have been released.
