3 people hit by car in Herndon

Police say two of the pedestrians were taken to area hospitals with life-threatening injuries.

HERNDON, Va. — Three people were injured, two severely, after being hit by a car in Herndon Thursday evening.

According to the Herndon Police Department, the pedestrians were hit along the Herndon Parkway Outer Loop. The roadway from Summerfield to H Mart is completely closed while officers investigate the cause of the crash. 

Police have not identified the pedestrians but say two are adults and the third is a child. 

One of the adults was injured but is expected to survive. The other adult and child suffered serious injuries considered to be life-threatening. All three were taken to area hospitals for help. 

The driver stopped and remained on scene following the crash and was not injured. 

There is no word on what happened in the moments leading up to the crash at this time.
