WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A pedestrian was struck and killed by the driver of a vehicle in Woodbridge early Tuesday, sparking an investigation.
Officers with the Prince William County Police Department responded to Dale Boulevard, near Queensdale Drive, around 1:15 a.m. after receiving a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.
Through an investigation, it was determined that the driver of a 2013 Toyota Corolla, a 37-year-old Woodbridge man, was driving northbound on Dale Boulevard when the collision happened. The pedestrian, who was wearing dark-colored clothing at the time, was struck as the driver approached the intersection.
Police said Daniel Ryder, 37, of Woodbridge, the identified pedestrian, was attempting to cross Dale Boulevard outside of the crosswalk when they were struck. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries, but was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and was not injured. Investigators determined that speed, alcohol, and drugs are not factors for the driver. The investigation is active and ongoing.
