PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — An 8-year veteran with the Fairfax County Police Department has been placed on administrative leave after getting arrested Thursday night for a DUI.
Private First Class Officer Nathan Jones, assigned to the Mount Vernon District, was arrested in Prince William County for driving under the influence.
Police say Officer Jones was off the clock and driving his own personal car at the time of the arrest.
He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation by the Fairfax Police Internal Affairs Bureau.
Police would not confirm if there were any other passengers inside the car at the time of the arrest.
This is the most recent arrest of a Fairfax County officer since PFC Stephen Copp, a 15-year veteran, was arrested for driving under the influence back in September.
In that incident, Copp was observed with glassy, bloodshot eyes and breath that smelled of alcohol, police said. He was arrested for DUI and the traffic light violation just before 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 9.
The results of that Internal Affairs Bureau investigation has not been publicly released.
This is all the information available at this time.
