Day 2 of search for woman who was last seen on Lake Arrowhead

The woman's watercraft capsized Sunday afternoon, and she hasn't been seen since.

LURAY, Va. — A search is underway at Lake Arrowhead after a woman was reported missing in the water Sunday afternoon.

Officials with the Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department responded to the lake to search for a missing person. They stated on X, formerly known as Twitter, just before 5:40 p.m., that there was a large presence of emergency vehicles and boats.

Around 8:35 p.m., the search continued for a woman who was last seen in the water earlier in the afternoon after the watercraft she was in capsized. The Spotsylvania Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Management responded as well to assist with the search.

The Stafford County Sheriff's Office stated that the search continued until 10 p.m. on Sunday, when water conditions became too hazardous resulting in the search having to be called off. The search is expected to continue on Monday.
