WOODLAWN, Va. — A 32-year-old Virginia man was arrested and charged with the assault of a woman, who was rescued from the attack by a neighbor.
On Wednesday, police were sent to an apartment in the 4500 block of Colony Court in Woodlawn for a reported burglary. When they arrived they saw a man, later identified as Deon Omar Traynham, leaving the apartment. When he saw police, he went back inside his home, officers said, where they arrested him.
Traynham was taken to a hospital for treatment, and on the way, he reportedly kicked the officer multiple times.
Later, police learned that Traynham allegedly pushed his way into the woman's unlocked apartment when she was home alone and began assaulting her. The woman's neighbor heard a struggle and came over to help her get away from the attacker, and out of the apartment.
Traynham, of Alexandria, was charged with burglary with intent to commit assault, abduction, assault and battery, assault on a law enforcement officer, and obstruction of justice. He was held without bond.
