SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- A 19-year-old Spotsylvania County girl is missing after she was last reported seen trying to catch a light at Ronald Reagan National Airport, the county sheriff's office said.
According to the sheriff's office, Katelin Akens was last seen Saturday after her family took her to the Franconia-Springfield Metro Station so she could take the Metro to the airport. Family members said she never reached her destination.
On Monday, the sheriff's office says they found Akens' luggage in a drainage ditch on River Road in Spotsylvania County.
"The circumstances surrounding this case are suspicious enough to warrant our full investigative efforts, in attempting to locate Miss Akens," Spotsylvania County Sheriff Roger L. Harris said in a statement.
Anyone with information about Akens's whereabouts is asked to contact the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office at 1-800-928-5822 or 1-540-582-5822.
