DUMFRIES, Va. — A shooting outside of a bar in Dumfries early Saturday has left a man dead, and police searching for the person who pulled the trigger.
Just before 2:10 a.m., officers with the Prince William County Police Department responded to Club Tempo, located on Possum Point Road, after a report of a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated, but he was pronounced dead later.
Police say the victim has been identified as 38-year-old Carvell Williams, of Warrenton, Virginia.
Through an investigation it was determined that before the shooting there was a fight that happened right outside of the building. Two vehicles in the parking lot were also hit by gunfire. No other injuries were reported in the shooting.
At this time, no suspects have been located, according to the police department. Detectives are working to determine what led up to the shooting and are trying to talk to anyone who witnessed the deadly shooting.
Authorities say they believe the shooting is not a random act. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Prince William County police at 703-792-6500 or submit a tip online at pwcva.gov/policetip.
