Man killed, driver arrested after hit-and-run crash in Fairfax County

The driver of the striking vehicle was located late Sunday, and the case is being investigated as a hit-and-run.

WOODLAWN, Va. — A pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash in Woodlawn Sunday night.

Officers with the Fairfax County Police Department responded to Richmond Highway at Buckman Road before 11:25 p.m. after a report of a crash involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries from being struck by a car and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Just before 6 a.m. on Monday, police announced the pedestrian died as a result of his injuries. He has not been identified at the time, this includes his name, age and where he is from.

The driver of the striking vehicle was located late Sunday, and the case is being investigated as a hit-and-run. The driver, who has not been identified, was arrested for a felony hit-and-run. 

Detectives are working to investigate the crash.

During the initial investigation at the scene, Southbound Richmond Highway was closed, but it is now open to traffic.
