WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA 9) -- A Virginia man is facing several charges after he was identified as driving while intoxicated during a traffic stop, according to Loudoun County Police.
Jose Salome Martinez-Morales, 39, was stopped in vehicle in the 1400 block of Bayside Ave. in Woodbridge. Police say when the officer instructed Martinez-Morales to exit the vehicle, he refused to comply.
Once the officer attempted to handcuff him, Martinez-Morales began to strike the officer several times with his hands and fist, police said. The officer then had to use physical force to detain Martinez-Morales and he was arrested without further incident, police said.
During the investigation, police said it was determined that Martinez-Morales was driving without an operator's license.
Martinez-Morales was charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated and driving without an license, police said.
