WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A man is facing charges after police connected him to a brush fire in Woodbridge earlier this month.
According to the Prince William County Police Department, Fire and Rescue crews were called to the 13300 block of Minnieville Road just after 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12.
When crews arrived, they extinguished the flames and requested a Fire Marshal to the scene.
No structures were damaged in the fire and the cause was initially unknown, according to police. However, officials began looking into a person of interest connected to the fire.
On Thursday, nine days after the fire, officers were called to the 2800 block of Dale Boulevard to see video footage from a brush fire that happened the day before. It was after watching that video that investigators connected a person of interest from previous outside fires.
While canvassing the area, the person of interest was located and arrested by the Fire Marshal's Office.
The person of interest has been identified as 34-year-old Marvin Ismael Escobar-Medrano. He has been charged with setting fire to woods and deliberate or negligent burning.
