Loudoun Co. Sheriff's Office says driver was caught going 116 mph on Harry Byrd Highway

According to the tweet from LCSO, the driver, only referred to as Lucas, was caught going more than double the 55 mph speed limit.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. — The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) took to Twitter to call out a driver they say was recently caught going 116 miles per hour on Harry Byrd Highway.

According to the tweet from LCSO, the driver, only referred to as Lucas, was caught going more than double the 55 mph speed limit.

"This reckless behavior put your life and the lives of all the other people on the roadway at risk," LCSO says in the tweet.

LCSO added that officials hope this is a life lesson for Lucas about the consequences of their actions. Deputies say drivers in this position could face possible jail time, loss of license, huge fines and points on their license.

"We here at the LCSO do not tolerate this type of behavior, the lives of those who live, work, and play in #Loudoun are too valuable," the department said.
