Woman arrested for swinging sword at officer while being served, police say

The suspect is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.

LEESBURG, Va. — A woman is in custody for allegedly swinging a sword at an officer and at another person in Leesburg on Thursday.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Road, Northeast, to serve a warrant on someone. When officers came across that person, they say she swung a sword at them and fled into a home. Another person in the area reported that the woman also swung the sword at them. Police say there no were injuries as a result.

Detectives say Alexandra C. Hopkins, 35, of Leesburg, was taken into custody for swinging the sword at victims. She is charged with one count of assault on law enforcement, one count of assault, two counts of brandishing a weapon, as well as two unrelated warrants from another agency. 

Hopkins was taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where she is being held on no bond.
