LCPS: Students return to virtual learning Nov. 3 & Nov. 5 due to staffing shortages

The two days this week will be called Asynchronous Learning Days, which means students will be distance learning, on their own schedules.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. — Loudoun County Public Schools students will be going virtual on Nov. 3 and Nov. 5 due to substitute coverage shortage, the school system said.

The school system said their goal is to have in-person instruction but the ongoing substitute teacher shortage during the week on Nov. 1 through Nov. 5* has forced them to make classes virtual.

The two days this week will be called Asynchronous Learning Days, which means students will be distance learning, on their own schedules. And teachers will use these two days as planning and workdays.

School meals will be provided onsite for pick up on Wednesday and Friday, LCPS said.

Also during the week, there will be a teacher workday where students are off and two holidays where schools are closed. Here's this upcoming week's schedule:

Monday, November 1: STUDENT HOLIDAY (Planning/Records/Conference Days)

Tuesday, November 2: STUDENT/STAFF HOLIDAY

Wednesday, November 3: Teacher Planning Day / Student Asynchronous Learning Day

Thursday, November 4: STUDENT/STAFF HOLIDAY

Friday, November 5: Teacher Planning Day / Student Asynchronous Learning Day

*There is no change to the published calendar/schedule other than November 3 and November 5.
