FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — An investigation is underway in Fairfax County after a truck caught fire following a crash on Interstate 66 on Tuesday. The reported fire on the highway comes after a crash involving four vehicles.
Fairfax Fire and Rescue crews responded to the scene of the fire on I-66, prior to 495, on Tuesday. At the scene, crews noticed four cars involved in a crash with a work truck on fire. Crews were able to put out the flames and are now working to clear the scene.
All lanes of I-66, including hot lanes, closed following the crash.
As of 7:55 p.m., transit officials say the left lane of the Express Lanes and the right shoulder of the Main Line has reopened. Delays are approximately 2.5 miles.
Anyone traveling in the area is told to anticipate delays for the time being.
