ARLINGTON, Va. — A pursuit of a carjacked vehicle in Northern Virginia, that started early Thursday, ended with an officer being hurt in a crash.
Arlington County Police received a lookout Wednesday night for a carjacked vehicle from the City of Alexandria. Hours later, around 3:30 a.m., officers saw the vehicle entering Southbound I-395 from Glebe Road and, after confirming that it was stolen, a traffic stop was attempted at King Street and Park Center Drive.
The driver then failed to stop and sped away, starting a vehicle chase. The pursuit ended at North Quaker Lane and Preston Road, just before 3:50 a.m. The driver of the stolen vehicle crashed into an Alexandria Police Department (APD) cruiser.
The APD officer suffered minor injuries from the crash and was taken to the hospital to be treated. No Arlington County Police Department officers were injured during the pursuit.
The suspect in the case has been described as being a juvenile boy. No additional information has been released about the boy's age, name, and where he is from at this time. Police say he has been placed under arrest.
The boy showed no visible injuries and declined medical treatment.
The investigation into the carjacking and crash are active and ongoing.
