Virginia high schoolers who gifted custodian a car get front-row seats to Commanders Hail Mary win

The group from James Madison High School was on hand as a thank you for an act of kindness they performed for their favorite custodian.

GREATER LANDOVER, Md. — A group of students from James Madison High School in Virginia were on hand to see the Washington Commanders' last-second Hail Mary pass to win against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. A simple act of kindness got the kids in the stands.

The students surprised the school's custodian with a Jeep Wrangler last month to show their appreciation for all that he does.

In September 2023, a group of freshmen were casually talking with Francis, the school's custodian. He told the students his birthday was approaching and when they asked what he wanted for his birthday, Francis told the kids he "desired to get a Jeep Wrangler."

Francis told the students his end goal in life was to purchase his dream Jeep Wrangler. Six months ago the students got together and said, "We're going to try and get him a Jeep."

The students raised $20,000 and surprised Francis with his dream car. When the Commanders heard of what the students did, Washington legend Santana Moss and mascot Major Tuddy surprised them, and Francis, with game tickets.

"I know you all are probably wondering what's going on right?" said Moss. "On behalf of the Commanders, myself, and Tuddy, we're here to invite you to one of our games, our home games against the Bears."

And what a game to witness! In addition to going down on the field before the game, the students also had front-row seats to Jayden Daniels' last-second 52-yard Hail Mary heave to Noah Brown to secure a W for the home team.
