MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA9) -- An 18-year-old man was arrested Sunday after he pretended to be an officer and tried to pull over a driver, who happened to be a real police officer, according to Prince William County police.

An off-duty Prince William County police officer reported to other police that he was driving on Sudley Manor Drive shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sunday when he noticed a blue Pontiac G6 following. The driver of that car turned on blue flashing lights mounted inside the car. The off-duty officer did not stop for the vehicle because he thought it was suspicious so he called police. At that time, the driver turned off the blue lights and fled.

The off-duty officer, however, was able to get the license plate number and follow the car to the intersection of Bethlehem Road before other officers stopped the car.

The driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Joshua Robert Rosene of Manassas, was arrested without incident. He was later charged with impersonating a police officer.
