HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — A man serving a 13-year prison sentence broke free from police custody while at a Virginia hospital in August. Weeks later, officials say that escaped convict has been apprehended.

Naseem Roulack, 21,  has been on the run from the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force since Aug. 12. He was serving a 13-year sentence for charges of aggravated malicious wounding, grand larceny and hit and run when he escaped custody while getting medical help at St. Mary's Hospital in Henrico, Virginia.

According to U.S. Marshals, Roulack was arrested Wednesday morning at a hotel in the 6700 block of Commerce Street in Springfield, Virginia by the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and Fairfax County Police Department.

Roulack reportedly attempted to jump from a third-floor window with an assault rifle in order to avoid being arrested. The three-story fall caused him to hurt his arm and drop the weapon. Officials said he ran and was arrested after a short chase and taken to an area hospital for help with his injuries.

In addition to the 13-year sentence Roulack was already serving, he is now also facing charges of kidnapping, armed robbery, armed carjacking, first-degree assault and vehicle theft charges for a Sept. 1 incident in Gaithersburg, Maryland during the weeks he managed to escape custody.

On Sept. 1, nearly three weeks after he escaped custody, Roulack reportedly carjacked a person in the 400 block of W. Deer Park Road in Montgomery County, which is roughly 127 miles away from the Bon Secours Hospital he left.

Officers were called to the area shortly after midnight and learned a woman was sitting in her blue 2016 Nissan Sentra when someone walked up, pointed a black handgun at her and demanded the car.

Detective Sargeant Robert Grims with the Montgomery County Police Department said it was not your routine carjacking.

"Put her at gunpoint, got her out of the car, tried to put her in the front seat, there was some issues getting her in that seat," Grims said. "He gets her in the backseat at gunpoint so now he has kidnapped her. Drives with her for a few blocks and eventually kicks her out of the car."
