LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. — A Virginia man is facing charges after deputies say he drunkenly crashed a car into a Loudoun County Sheriff's Office patrol car while a deputy and his K9 were in it.
According to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened while the deputy was writing a speeding ticket for another car during a traffic stop near Route 7 (West) at the ramp of Battlefield in Leesburg.
Investigators claim the deputy was sitting in the patrol car with his emergency equipment on when another vehicle crashed into the patrol vehicle just before 1:45 a.m.
Following the crash, deputies say the person behind the wheel sped away and the deputy was able to follow. The crashed car eventually stopped and the driver was reportedly found to be drunk.
The driver, identified as 40-year-old Robert Charles Neumeister, was arrested and charged with hit-and-run, reckless driving, driving while intoxicated, eluding and narcotics possession.
Neither the deputy nor his K9 partner were injured in the crash.
Neumeister was taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, where he is held on no bond.
