STERLING, Va. (WUSA9) -- When a facility has the name Donald Trump attached to it, you can bet it will be extravagant.
Trump's latest project lives up to those standards. Trump was in Sterling Tuesday afternoon along with his son Eric to unveil a brand new, state-of-the-art Tennis Center at Trump National Golf Club. Joining the Trumps for the grand opening celebration was World Number One and tennis icon, Serena Williams.
"I am thrilled to officially open what has already been called the finest Tennis Center in the Country, if not the world. The expansive facility has been built to the highest standards and is a fantastic addition to this world-class property which fronts entirely on the Potomac River," said Trump, Chairman & President of the Trump Organization.
"It is an honor to have the incredible Serena Williams join us today to officially open this magnificent building --- she is a true champion and is the greatest of all time," Trump said.
The Trump National Tennis Center is the first of its kind with five state-of-the-art plexi-cushion courts constructed with a 10mm rubber cushion to absorb impact, indirect LED lighting with more than 140 foot candles of light and an advanced climate system creating the perfect temperate for year round play.
Each court is wired with high definition cameras, providing the ability to record and analyze every match and lesson played.
"When my father and I were constructing this building, it was our goal to bring the finest tennis experience to our members and their guests. We spared no expense on creating a truly world-class Tennis Center and are so pleased to have exceeded all expectations," said Eric F. Trump, Executive Vice President, Development & Acquisitions, The Trump Organization.
WUSA Sports Anchor Kristen Berset spent a few minutes with Trump discussing his new facility and talked to him about the return of his friend, Tiger Woods, to the course in this week's Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club.
"You just have to keep going forward, and it doesn't matter what people think. you just have to go forward and forget about them, and that's what Tiger, I think, is going to do... he will ultimately do very well, he's a special guy," Trump said.
