Virginia woman dies in car crash, child inside survives

On Monday, January 22, 39-year-old Demetria Yvetter Lee was traveling east on Old Bridge Road when she suddenly lost control of her car.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — Prince William County Police are investigating a single vehicle car crash that claimed the life of a mother.

On Monday, January 22, 39-year-old Demetria Yvette Lee was traveling east on Old Bridge Road when she suddenly lost control of her car. The vehicle left the road and rolled onto its roof.

Thankfully, some witnesses who saw the crash rushed into action. They removed Lee from the car and provided aid until Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene. Lee was taken to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts from medical staff, her injuries were too severe and she died.

Lee was not in the car by herself during the crash. A 7-year-old boy was safely restrained in the backseat. The child did not sustain any injuries.

Preliminary investigation showed that Lee was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash. She was not speeding or impaired either. Crash investigators are trying to figure out what caused the crash.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact police.
