FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. โ The Kansas City Chiefs might be headed to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas this Sunday to take on the San Francisco 49ers, but there is another chiefs battle happening right in the DMV.
In Fairfax County, it's the chief versus the chief. Police Chief Kevin Davis and Fire Chief John Butler are facing off in Fairfax County Animal Shelter's Chief vs. Chief Adoption Bowl. It starts on Thursday and will end on Sunday with each of them leading a team of adoptable dogs, competing to find the most loving homes.
As a pre-game to the match, Chief Butler is already looking into a MVP for the bowl a.k.a. the 'most valuable pup' for anyone who might be looking for a fur-ever friend. The fire department released a video of him playing with one of the dogs named Cowabunga, and she's about 1-year-old.
For any family who believes it is paws-ible to bring a furry friend in their home, adoption fees are waived for dogs over 45 pounds. The adoptions are happening at two county shelters, located at 4500 West Ox Road in Fairfax and 9975 Lorton Road in Lorton.
