16-year-old boy arrested in break-in, attempted sexual assault

An officer responded to a 911 hang-up call when they found the suspect in the woman's home, claiming to be her grandson. She said he was lying.

CHANTILLY, Va. — A 16-year-old was arrested after police say he broke into a home in Fairfax County and attempted to sexually assault the woman who lives there.

At 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Fairfax County Police Department said an officer responded to a home in the 14600 block of Northwest Place in Chantilly for a 911 hang-up call.

When the officer arrived to the home, they found a distraught homeowner being followed by a male inside the victim’s home.

Police said the suspect claimed to be the woman's grandson, but she said that was a lie.

The police department said the officer attempted to detain the suspect, but he tried to run. However, the officer was able to take him into custody.

The suspect is a 16-year-old boy.

The victim told police she heard a knock on her door and was confronted by the boy, who then forced his way into her home. She tried to call 911, but police say the boy assaulted her, preventing her from relaying information to a dispatcher.

He then forced the victim to a bedroom, but his continued assault was interrupted by officer.

The boy is facing charges of burglary with the intent to rape, abduction with the intent to defile, preventing a 911 call, and assault and battery.

He has not been identified due to his age.

Detectives are asking anyone who has information about this incident to call the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 3. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Solvers by phone at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
