BURKE, Va. — A bomb threat made on TikTok toward a school in Fairfax County has led to extra security measures as students and staff arrived to the campus Thursday.
On Wednesday night, Principal Lindsey Kearns of Lake Braddock Secondary School (LBSS), located in Burke, sent a letter to parents saying that a student had made a threat on an anonymous Lake Braddock TikTok account.
The account featured "LBSS 8th and 7th drama," the letter said. On the account, on the same night the letter was sent, a post stated: “Ima bomb the school on 1/18/24.”
The school contacted the Fairfax County Police Department to investigate the threat and find who is responsible. In addition, the letter stated that additional security would be monitoring the school overnight and into Thursday morning.
A school official informed WUSA9 that activities are continuing as regularly scheduled after the building was cleared. It was cleared for staff at 7:15 a.m., and students started at 7:30 a.m.
If anyone knows anything about this they are asked to call the anonymous safety tip line at 571-423-2020 or text concerns to 888-777 with the keyword 'tip FCPS.'
