ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A Virginia high school campus has been forced to evacuate students and staff twice this week due to bomb threats.
In a letter to students and families Wednesday, Executive Principal Peter Balas said the first bomb threat was reported just before 2:30 p.m. Following the threat, Alexandria City High School (ACHS) King Street campus at King Street was evacuated.
The Alexandria Police Department (APD) and the Alexandria Fire Department investigated the threat and Balas later said no credibility was found for the threat.
"We have determined that it is safe for students and staff to return to school and for parent-teacher conferences to proceed as scheduled," Balar wrote.
Classes resumed as normal on Thursday until another bomb threat was placed again just before 2:30 p.m. While students had already been dismissed at 1:15 p.m. due to parent-teacher conferences, the campus was again evacuated and the meetings were postponed.
APD and the fire department are conducting another on-site investigation.
"The safety and security of our students, staff and families in our school facilities are of utmost priority," Balar wrote in another letter to the community. "Teachers and school administrators will provide information to families about the rescheduling of today’s parent-teacher conferences."
There is no word on any suspect information regarding the bomb threats at this time.
