FAIRFAX, Va. — Four people accused of burglarizing a home in Georgia will be extradited to Fairfax County after police connected the group to a string of home break-ins that targeted McLean, Reston, Oakton and Great Falls.
In just two weeks, Fairfax County Police claim one of the thieves posed as a rose delivery person several times before the group broke into the houses after finding no one was home.
In four of the burglaries, a woman approached the home with flowers and knocked on the door. When no one answered, she returned to a car and a short time later, two men forced their way into the home and stole valuable items, including jewelry, cash and purses.
Police say the suspects concealed their identities by tampering with home surveillance cameras. Similar burglaries were reported on the following days:
- December 28 - 900 block of Dominion Reserve Drive, McLean at 6 p.m.
- December 29 - 1100 block of Bishopgate Way, Reston at 6 p.m.
- January 1 - 1100 block of Windrock Drive, McLean at 2 a.m.
- January 8 - 11000 block of Lance Lane, Oakton at 5:30 p.m.
- January 9 - 11100 block of Farm Road, Great Falls sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
In January, officers with the Criminal Investigations Division identified the vehicle the suspects were seen traveling in and discovered the car passing through a residential area in Cobb County, Georgia.
Detectives contacted the Cobb County Police Department (CCPD), who informed them that the car was connected to a recent burglary in their county. The two departments worked together to find and arrest the four suspects:
- Juan Pablo Montecinos Neira, 34, was charged with three counts of Burglary.
- Rey Jesus Arturo Morales Caruin, 27, was charged with three counts of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.
- Dylhan Jesus Esteban Osorio Jara, 23, was charged with three counts of Burglary.
- Karla Alejandra Vicencio Maysonet, 43 was charged with one count of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and two counts of Burglary; Principals in the Second Degree or Accessory before the Fact.
All four accused thieves are being held in Cobb County and will be extradited to Fairfax County after facing charges in Georgia.
"Our understanding was they were doing the exact same thing." said Fairfax County Police Department Deputy Chief Brooke Wright. Wright could not say how many burglaries the group was responsible for in Cobb County.
Wright said the investigation is still active.
"We are obviously looking at some other cases that may have happened here, that may be connected to that series as well," Wright said. "Our detectives have gathered a lot of evidence. They're still investigating and may be able to link them to other cases."
Police are still asking anyone who may have surveillance camera footage that appears suspicious, to contact them at 703-556-7750.
