WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Eight people and multiple pets are without a home after a fire at an apartment building in Woodbridge early Wednesday.
Firefighters with Prince William County Fire and Rescue responded to 116 Washington Street just after midnight after receiving a call about a fire. Upon arrival, they found the apartment building, that was previously converted from a single-family home, in flames.
Crews said that smoke and fire was showing from the 6-unit building. Everyone in the building was evacuated thanks to the help of neighbors who alerted them.
No one was injured in the blaze. The fire did extensive damage and the building has been declared to be uninhabitable by the building official.
Due to the fire, eight people, two dogs, and two cats were displaced.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is working to determine the cause of the fire.
