FAIRFAX STATION, Va. — One man is dead and another is injured after a Fairfax Station crash early Thursday.
Officers with the Fairfax County Police Department responded around 12:05 a.m. to a crash that happened just north of the intersection of Route 286 and Ox Road on the southbound side of 286. Upon arrival, they discovered two vehicles were involved in the collision.
One driver was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, but he died there. The other driver was also taken to the hospital to be treated and is expected to survive as his injuries are considered to be non-life-threatening.
Both drivers were the sole occupants of the vehicles they were driving. No information has been released about the identities of the two drivers, including their names, ages, and where they are from.
While officers investigated what happened in the deadly collision, Route 286 southbound between Burke Center Parkway and Ox Road were closed. The roadway has since been reopened to commuters.
The cause of the crash was is still under investigation.
