UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) — Former D.C. congressional delegate and civil rights leader, Rev. Walter Fauntroy, was arrested Monday at Dulles International Airport by Customs and Border Patrol officers.
Fauntroy, now 83 years old, is accused of writing a bad check of $55,000 intended to cover President Obama's inaugural ball that "fizzled" at the Gaylord hotel, WUSA9’s Bruce Johnson reported.

The outstanding arrest warrant for failure to appear in court, fraud, and insufficient funds was out of Prince George’s County in Upper Marlboro.
Fauntroy had been living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, since 2012. Family and friends expressed concern about his mental health.
Friends were trying to raise funds to stave off foreclosure on Fauntroy Crestwood home where his 82 yr old wife Dorothy lives. @wusa9

Officials said when airplanes fly to the United States from foreign departure cities, such as Dubai, CBP officers vet the passenger, crew and cargo manifests searching for anomalies. These range from outstanding arrest warrants to transnational criminal organizations or terrorism group affiliations.
Fauntroy is currently being held at Loudoun County jail without bond.
Loudoun County court officials said Fauntroy will be in court Tuesday morning via closed circuit TV for their arraignments session to determine if he will waive or fight extradition for his Prince George’s County warrant.
At that time, Prince George’s County has 10 days to come and get him.
