The Events D.C. Nation Triathlon has canceled its swim portion of the event due to poor water conditions in the Potomac River. The triathlon scheduled for Sunday will be a bike-run race.

The current water conditions do not meet the D.C. Department of Energy and Environment’s EPA-based safety standards for permitting full-body human contact with the river’s water, a spokesman for the triathlon said.

E. Coli was found in the river at unsafe EPA levels.

On Sunday, Sept. 11, the race will begin at 7 a.m. from Ohio Drive directly into the transition area for athletes to get their bikes and start the course.

The awards ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. and the remainder of the day’s events remain unchanged.
