WASHINGTON — A Loudoun County physical trainer has been arrested for sexually assaulting a female athlete during track practice, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.
Detectives with the county arrested 54-year-old Arnold D. Thomas of Leesburg, Va. on Friday night, charging him with taking indecent liberties of a child, aggravated sexual battery and abduction.
Police said that on December 7, Arnold was alone with the victim at the Ashburn Elite Track Club where he was conducting training exercises. During the practice, Arnold groped the teenager multiple times. The incident was then reported to the Loudoun County Sherrif's Office two days later.
Thomas is currently being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond, police said.
Detectives with the office's Special Victims Unit are still investigating if Arnold had further inappropriate contact with other children and teenagers during his time as a trainer. The Ashburn Elite Track Club has not released a statement on Arnold or his involvement with the club.
Those who have any further information regarding Thomas, as well as those who believe they might be a victim, are asked to contact Sgt. Wayne Promisel at 703-777-1021.
