WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Thousands attended Easter sunrise service Sunday morning at the Lincoln Memorial.
It is a tradition going on 38 years at the National Mall.
"It was beautiful to see so many people coming out being together. It's a very exciting time," said the Bolton family.
The Lincoln Memorial and the reflecting pool served as the backdrop of Easter Sunrise service in the District.
Thousands came to worship and listen to gospel music on the National Mall.
After the hour and a half service, many worshippers decided on the short walk to see the Cherry Blossoms which are still in peak bloom.
Easter weekend continues on Monday with the White House Easter Egg roll and the traditional Easter egg hunt and family day at the National Zoo.
