TAKOMA PARK, Md. — A 27-year-old man suspected of a string of burglaries between the months of June to December in Takoma Park, Maryland, was arrested, authorities said.
Jose Mazara was charged with first-degree burglary, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, and a loaded handgun on a person.
On Sept. 29, detectives with the Takoma Park Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 7600 block of Maple Avenue, where Mazara was an occupant of the vehicle.
Police said during the traffic stop, Mazara was a possible suspect in multiple burglaries in Takoma Park, but was released at the time. It wasn't until recently, detectives were able to determine Mazara was responsible for the four burglaries.
Detectives connected Mazara to the following burglary offenses in Takoma Park:
- On June 21 in the 100 block of Sherman Avenue
- On Nov. 13 in the 900 block of East West Highway
- On Nov. 27 in the 900 block of Larch Avenue
- On Dec. 7 in the 1300 block of Erskine Street
On the same day of the burglary along Erskine Street, Takoma Park detectives located and apprehended Mazara. Detectives found evidentiary value on Mazara related to the multiple burglaries following a search, Takoma Park Police said. After obtaining a search warrant, detectives also found items of evidentiary value inside Mazara's car.
He was arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
