WASHINGTON -- Among the Washington Capitals stellar lineup of Game 3 celebrities was Saturday Night Live's Kenan Thompson.

Thompson is a known sketch comedian who originally landed fame for his role in The Mighty Ducks films with his "Knuckle Puck". He was invited down to D.C. to be part of the festivities as the Caps attempted to win their first ever home Stanley Cup Final game.

Wait, why?

Thompson was born in Atlanta and has lived in New York for more than a decade, and there's no real stop along the way here in DC.

He was interviewed in the first intermission on the NBC Sports Network broadcast about his allegiances.

"You know, it's an East Coast thing," Thompson said of why he's a Caps fan.

Ok, sure.

He went on to explain how he "wasn't going to turn down an invite" to the a Stanley Cup Final game.

Thompson said his favorite players included "Brent" Holtby" and "Ochie".

He went on to say "Some other people. What other names can I give you?"

It isn't clear if he's being a good in-character comedian, or if he's seriously just here for the free ticket.

Thompson is known for donning a New York Yankees cap, and during the pre-game festivities on the steps of the National Portrait Gallery, he removed it in favor of a Caps cap to the cheers of the crowd.

Thanks, I guess?

At least Pat Sajak and Joe Gibbs were more DC-appropriate.

As for Shaggy and Sting, well... Read the comments here.
