SILVER SPRING, Md. — Three men are facing multiple charges after they crashed a van into the back of a Metro bus during a police chase Monday afternoon in Silver Spring, Maryland, officials said.
Montgomery County Police officers responded to the 9300 block of Branch Road for a reported armed robbery around 2:41 p.m. The alleged victim told officers the men drove off in a Toyota Sienna. Officers were able to locate the suspects at the White Oak Shopping Center.
When officers tried to stop a Toyota Sienna that matched the description of the suspect vehicle, police said the driver drove off. The driver was seen heading southbound on RT 29 towards Georgia Avenue, and officers began to follow the van.
The police chase ended on Georgia Avenue near Sligo Avenue when the driver of the Toyota rammed into the back of a Metro Bus. A Montgomery County Police cruiser then crashed into the back of the van.

Two men were taken into custody immediately and Montgomery County EMS rescued another man from the crashed van, according to police. A loaded 9mm ghost gun with a Glock slide and a 9mm replica airsoft gun were also found during the arrest, police said.
Police identified the three men as 18-year-old Natnael Akalu of Silver Spring, 18-year-old Wesley Jose Nunez of D.C. and 19-year-old Lorenzo Antonio Madrid of D.C.
All three men were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life threatening, but are still hospitalized. No officers were hurt during the crash.

Each suspect was charged with armed robbery, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony violent crime, possession of a handgun and other related charges.
No officers were injured during the time of the collision, and no serious injuries of passengers on the Metro Bus have been reported.
