FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Police say a food delivery driver swiped a bucket of money meant for charity in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Now, investigators are asking the public if they recognize the person seen in surveillance video.
The Fredericksburg Police Department posted the image on its social media pages Tuesday. They said the theft itself occurred at the IHOP restaurant on Plank Road on Dec. 5. The stolen bucket contained funds meant for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the police department said. Police believe the thief was on the job working for DoorDash when they took the money. Officers did not say how much money was taken.
The police department is urging anyone who may recognize the person in the photo to contact them at 540-373-3122 and reference report number 2023-006914. To make an anonymous tip, send a text to "847-411" and text "FPDtip" followed by your tip.
