The mother of a woman killed by a Tennessee death row inmate says the state should hand over her daughter's remains. Colleen Slemmer was beaten and tortured by a fellow Job Corps student ten years ago. Pike is now sentenced to death.Since the murder, some of Slemmer's remains have been boxed up as evidence. But her mother, May Martinez wants them back.Knoxville attorney Dennis Francis is helping her in her effort. He will be working with Pike's attorney to see if they can agree on releasing the evidence.Martinez, who lives in Florida, says she just wants the remains so she can properly bury her daughter. She says she would like to bury the remains with her daughter's ashes.Colleen Slemmer would have turned 31 this week.
