SPRINGFIELD, Va. — The fire at a restaurant in Springfield, Virginia forced couples celebrating Valentine's Day at Mike's American Grill in the 6200 block of Backlick Road out onto the street as the fire burned up to the roof of the building, Fairfax County Fire/Rescue said.
The fire was showing on the roof, and firefighters appeared to be cutting into a vent to get at the fire.
First responders had several lanes of the surrounding blocked closed off for their response to the fire.
Valentine's Day is a busy night for restaurants. There was no word on how many people were inside at the time of the fire.
One woman told WUSA9 that it appeared to be a grease fire. She also said that due to the building being surrounded with fire vehicles and hoses, customers who parked in the parking lot aren't able to leave.
The fire department said just after 11 p.m. that the fire was out.
The fire department said that no injuries have been reported.
No other information was immediately available.
