TYSONS CORNER, Va. (WUSA9) -- A suspect in a police stand-off at a Tysons Corner apartment complex is now in custody, according to officials. Officials are reportedly searching the suspect's apartment before allowing residents who were evacuated earlier Tuesday morning back to their units.
Officer Bud Walker, spokesman for the Fairfax County Police Department, says officers were called to the high rise apartment building in the 8300 block of Greensboro Drive around 1:55 a.m. for a noise complaint. When officers spoke to a man who was accused of playing loud music, he threatened to shoot them if they came inside.
According to Walker, the officers noticed the smell of gasoline as they spoke to the man. Out of an abundance of caution, the officers evacuated residents from three floors of the building. The evacuees were relocated to a community center within the gated complex.
No injuries were reported, according to Walker.
Several police and fire units as well as a SWAT team responded to the scene.
Police were negotiating with the man though it is unclear whether they are doing so through the door of the apartment or by phone.
