Woman killed in Olney car accident

A woman was killed in a car accident in Olney Sunday.

OLNEY, Md. (WUSA9) -- A woman was killed in a car accident in Olney Sunday, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

The victim has been identified as Ioanna Kaskasian, 41, of Olney, Md., police said.

The accident happened around 8 a.m. in 300 block of Olney-Sandy Spring Road near Sherwood High School. Police say Rt. 108 is closed in both directions for a collision investigation.

After an investigation, police determined that a 2006 Honda CRV left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Kaskasian was the only occupant of the car. She was transported to a local hospital where police say she succumbed to her injuries.

Police say the accident is still under investigation.
