WHEATON-GLENMONT, Md. — A tree fell through a home in Montgomery County early Friday. Authorities say an old-growth tree fell around 4:45 a.m. in the Wheaton Hills neighborhood. Two people in the home were sleeping at the time.
Pete Piringer, a spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services, says the fallen tree caused damage to the home and downed powerlines nearby. A gas leak was reported as well. Several neighboring homes lost power.
The family who lives in the house — two adults and two pets — are now without a place to live. No injuries were reported.
There is no estimate for the damage to the home.
Crews remain on scene working to restore power to the homes in the area and stop the gas leak. Additional details were not immediately available.
