Teen arrested for armed carjacking in Rockville

Both of the teens were in the custody of police for separate crimes when served with the arrest warrants connected to the armed carjacking in Rockville.

ROCKVILLE, Md. — An 18-year-old and a 16-year-old are facing armed carjacking and armed robbery charges in Rockville.

On Wednesday, November 8, Rockville City Police responded to the area of Leonard Court for reports of an armed carjacking.

The victim told police that she was parking her 2017 Honda Pilot, just before 9:15 p.m. Then three guys appeared out of nowhere and began approaching her car. Two of the carjackers walked up to the driver’s side, while the third approached the passenger side.

The two on the driver’s side both displayed weapons, one had a gun, another had a knife. The carjackers demanded that the victim take them to the bank. The victim was able to escape, as the suspects drove away in her Honda.

One of the suspects has since been identified as 18-year-old Samuel Fikru. Montgomery County Police served Fikru with a warrant while he was being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on other unrelated charges.

The second suspect is a 16-year-old who is being charged as an adult. The teen was also in police custody when he was served the warrant for a strong-armed robbery he committed on Tuesday.

Detectives are still searching for the third suspect.

Anyone with information regarding this crime or the final suspect are asked to call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspects. Callers can remain anonymous.
