19-year-old arrested in carjacking of off-duty PGPD officer; Second suspect wanted

Detectives are actively working to identify the second suspect in this case.

OXON HILL, Md. — Police in Prince George's County say they've arrested a teen in connection to Thursday night's carjacking of an off-duty officer.

Just after 5 p.m., the officer and his family were inside their car on Oxon Hill Road, nearby Monument Avenue, in Oxon Hill when two people approached. They then forced the family out of the vehicle.

The officer fired his department-issued weapon during the interaction. No one was injured during the altercation.

Through an investigation, detectives with the Prince George's County Police Department were able to identify 19-year-old Anthony Stewart, of D.C., and locate him. DC Police were able to assist and take him into custody on Friday, where he remains until he is extradited to Prince George's County.

Police say Stewart has been charged with carjacking, robbery, theft, and additional charges.

Detectives are actively working to identify the second suspect in this case. Here's an image of the person wanted for the crime:
