PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNY, Md. (WUSA9) -- Students at Parkdale High School in Prince George's County remember their teacher killed in High Point High School's parking lot Thursday afternoon.
Gladys Tordil's students here have flooded the web with memories, love and support.
Gladys Tordil wasn't just a chemistry teacher, she was a favorite among students. They covered her classroom door with sticky notes and they signed a giant card to remember her after she was killed
Forty-four-year-old Tordil started working at Parkdale in 2004. She left briefly, then returned in 2013.
One former student told our editorial partners at the Washington Post that Tordill was "always happy, always singing, always dancing." The type of teacher who paid out of pocket for bowling and pizza for students who couldn’t afford to pay their own way.
There's been an outpouring of support online.
"My niece adored miss Tordil," Liz Schartman wrote on a GoFundMe Page to benefit her daughters.
"Gladys was a wonderful lady and she will be missed here at Parkdale," wrote Karen Bogoski.
Michael Seibert had a message for Gladys' daughters, "I love you girls and I loved your mother so much."
In a statement, the Prince George's County School District said everyone is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Gladys.
She's gone, but as far as her students are concerned, she'll forever have a place at Parkdale.
Tordil leaves behind two daughters who are high school seniors preparing for college in the fall. A GoFundMe page has been started to help the girls with finances.
