Student charged for assaulting SRO, administrator at high school in Charles County

The student also faces disciplinary consequences from the Charles County Public Schools.

WALDORF, Md. — A student in Charles County is facing charges after assaulting a school resource officer (SRO) and school administrator Tuesday morning.

Around 11:50 a.m., two students at St. Charles High School were having a dispute, resulting in school administrators and a SRO attempting to keep them separated. One of the students involved then attempted to push through them to get to the other student. While doing so, the student pushed against the SRO and administrator, and had to be restrained.

During the altercation, the student damaged equipment worn by the school resource officer.

One student was charged with assault and destruction of property, according to the Charles County Sheriff's Office. In addition, the student faces disciplinary consequences from the Charles County Public Schools.
