3 shot while leaving funeral at cemetery in Prince George's County

Police are investigating in the 7100 block Sheriff Road.

GREATER LANDOVER, Md. — Three people were shot while leaving a funeral in Prince George's County on Friday afternoon.

The Prince George's County Police Department first tweeted about the shooting just before 2:30 p.m.

Police are investigating in the 7100 block of Sheriff Road. Sheriff Road between Belle Haven Drive and MLK are shut down for the investigation.

The three people who were shot were in a van that was leaving a funeral in a procession, according to police. National Harmony Memorial Park is nearby.

"This is a time when people are already grieving – already sad about losing a loved one," said Major Chad Schmick.

The victims were two men and one woman, police said. None of their injuries were considered life-threatening.

An officer was injured when he broke the window of the van to climb in and apply a tourniquet, the police department said. He's expected to be OK.

The police do not currently have any lookout details available, and no arrests have been made.

Police are asking anyone with video or information to contact the police department.
