Person hit by train near Rockville station

The person has life-threatening injuries, according to firefighters on scene.

ROCKVILLE, Md. — A person has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after they were hit by a train near Rockville Station Tuesday night.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services said in tweet that a pedestrian was hit by a train on CSX tracks near East Gude Drive and Frederick Road just before 7 p.m. Responding medical personnel said the pedestrian had injuries considered to be life-threatening, but did not specify the injuries. They were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

All train traffic in the area has been halted while an investigation is underway.

The pedestrian has not been identified by authorities and the circumstances leading up to the collision are still under investigation.
